Folk crafts, wooden architecture and mining towns of Central Slovakia
Travel through ancient times visiting the ruins of the Great Moravian Devin Castle and a beautiful Romanesque Rotunda in Skalica. Come with us and take a peak into the unique Hutterite courtyards of Velke Levare, some of the largest building complexes of this kind in Europe. Listen to the stories originating from the time of the Iron Curtain, the communism time not so long ago. The Zahorie region is also unique for the great variety of natural habitats you will visit with us. The White Stork, Grey Heron and Red Kite are typical inhabitants of the wetlands in this region and offer a great opportunity for bird watching. Mushroom pickers will especially enjoy the vast pine forests growing upon sand dunes. And lastly the woodlands covering the nearby Carpathian mountains offer great scenic views of the entire region. We bet that the lunch of the bean soup with a slice of crispy bread and a bottle of excellent Skalicas ruby wine will meet all your expectations of a good traditional dinner. Support the local artists by buying souvenirs for a good value and try pottery making and wood-carving with your own hands.
