Bratislava's Opera house is a must for opera lovers together with the Slovak Philharmonic. The night-life is also worth coming to Bratislava for a weekend for. Have a look at our things to do in Bratislava section, if you are wondering what to do in Bratislava.

Museums
Bratislava has an exhaustive collection of Museums & Galleries for you to visit. Exhibits range from the town's history to archaeology, pharmaceutics to porcelain, torture devices to clocks. The first stop must be the castle museum which houses a collection of glass & porcelain, landscape paintings, SNP posters and primitive bikes. Just off the castle courtyard is an archaeological exhibit with the tiny statue "Venus from Moravia" dating back to 22,800 BC. There is an interesting Clock Museum in the Jewish part os the city, Click here for Map which is open daily.

The Slovak National Museum is easy to spot, because of the statue of the lion that stands in front of the building and is situated on the banks of the Danube. This huge museum features the usual Natural History, Zoological and archaeological exhibitions.
However, there are also some interesting art and photo expositions, and an excellent exhibit about Slovak Inventors. Open Daily (Except Monday) 10:00 - 17:00

Galleries
The Slovak National Gallery (Slovenskб nбrodnб galйria; Tues-Sun 10am-6pm) is worth exploring. There are two entrances: the one on the embankment of the Danube lets you into the main building, a converted naval barracks, while the one on Stъrovo nбmestie gives access to the Esterhбzy Palace wing - inside, both parts connect on the upper floor, while the Esterhбzy Palace houses sixteenth- to eighteenth-century paintings.

Head straight for the fascinating top-floor display of twentieth-century applied arts, architecture and design.

Nightlife
With so many bars, pubs and clubs you will find it hard not to find a suitable place for you and your friends! Here are a few of the best in Bratislava.

Pubs & Bars
In the downtown area don't miss 17's BAR which I personally think makes one of the best pizza's in Bratislava. It is located on Hviezdoslavovo square opposite the hotel Danube.

The Dubliner's Irish Pub near the main square is popular with the ex-pat crowd and serves Irish, as well as Slovak beers, along with pub food. Another great pub is on obchodna street called the 1st Slovak Pub which can accommodate 650 people in 14 separate rooms. Montana's Grizzly Bar on Michalska street is the only place in town where you can find American cooking just like your Mom used to make - burgers, t-bone steaks and all the rest. Wash the US goods down with tall, frosty pints of Slovak beer. The perfect combination. Another favourite of mine is the Slang pub opposite the Hotel Radisson Carlton, with a good atmosphere and very friendly waiters and not to mention the great food and beer.

Clubs
Some of Bratislava's best clubs are hidden in old bomb shelters where blasting music bothers no one.
If your into Jazz then head to the Metro Club, click here for Map. For the best in e music The U Club offers the best in Bratislava is hidden in a bomb shelter some 50m deep inside the castle hill. Here are the best rave parties every weekend. Have a Semtex energy drink (46Sk) to help you through the night. Open Fri, Sat 22:00 - 05:00.
The Harley Davidson club is far out of the centre but worth the taxi fare. The biker saloon is the main attraction in this purpose-built western village. There are some five Harley Davidson bikes parked outside. And a sign states that any other bike will be crushed. Dance to good old rock in the boxing ring in the middle of the bar. This is also where the guys are all staring when the female stripper comes on at 23:00 and 02:00 each night. The highlight of the night is the flaming of the bar with lots of zippo lighter fluid which gives the bar its distinctive oily smell. Great!
Charlies pub is another good club not pub! is Charlies Pub on Spitбlska Street and is packed with young ladies dancing to the latest sounds of modern pop.
Another very popular hang out is the Cirkus Barok , a dance club and bar with several floors in a ship anchored on the Danube bank just across the road from the Devin hotel.
Hysteria Pub/Club where you dance above an ice skating rink, a fair way out of the city centre but is a riot with the DJ controlling the crowd from his outpost high above the dance floor surrounded by cactus decorated pillars. Avoid the Mexican food!!

Shopping
For a visit to the Shopping Centre while in Bratislava then look no further than these two. Aupark across the river from the Old Town and Polus City Centre on Vajnorska. Both have a variety of shops of all kinds and multiples cinemas. If you come before May don't forget your can claim back your Tax on goods bought in Slovakia!
